Gin Rummy
Gin Rummy is played by two people. It is played with 52 cards. The sequence of the cards is as, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, king. The asis counted as 1 point and jack, queen and king each are 10. The points of the other cards are counted as the numbers written on them.
Each player gets 10 cards. The remaining cards are placed on the middle of the table and the first card is placed so that you can see the points. The player, who didn’t give cards, starts the game. He has now the opportunity to take the card in the middle. If he doesn’t take it, the other player has the possibility to do so. Following that, each player has his turn. Each turn is drawing and throwing away any card. The player can either draw a card of the deck of cards or pick up the card which was the lost one which was thrown away.
Object of the game
The object of the game is to collect suits of cards. A suit of cards exists of at least 3 cards. It is possible to drop groups or streets. A group exists of at least 3 cards of the same value, e.g. 3 kings. A street are at least three cards of the same colour, e.g. Heart 10, Heart Jack, Heart Queen. It must be considered that a card can only be played in either a street or in a suit, but not both at the same time.
End of the game
After the player drew a card and before he throws away a card, he has the right to display. You can display a card when the value of your unused cards, after you have thrown one away, is 10 or less. After the first player displayed cards (the “displayer”), the other player has to display hiscards as well. The second player has the right, to place his unused cards additional to the other player’s combinations (if they suit there). If the first player displayer three 7, for instance, and one ofthe second player’s cards is the 4th 7, he can add his card at the other player’s cards. The value of the remaining cards are the remaining points. If the displayer has less remaining points, he gets the difference between the rest points booked in account. If the player who didn’t display his cards first, has less remaining points, this player gets the remaining points written on his account, and additional 20 bonus points.
Gin
If the player who displays his cards has no remaining cards, you call it a “gin”. He gets 25 bonus points for that. Plus, when a gin occurs, the other player isn’t allowed to add hiscards. The game is over, as soon as one of the player has 50, 100 or 200 points.
Oklahoma-Gin
“Oklahoma-Gin” is a widespread variant of Gin Rummy. Here, the first card determines, how many points you need to display your cards. If the first card is an as, only a gin can be displayed. Additionally, the remaining points are counted double, if the first card was a spade.
